Alaska Permanent plans emerging markets fund

The state-backed pension investor is said to be working with another sovereign wealth fund on the proposals.

The state-owned pension scheme Alaska Permanent Fund Corp is collaborating with another sovereign wealth fund to develop an equity investment fund focused on emerging markets, Pensions & Investments has this week reported.

Alaska Permanent’s chief investment officer Russell Read said that this strategy was an attempt to enable his organisation to compete both with large pension funds and bigger sovereign wealth funds.
